Assessments - Accessible to All & Ahead of AI
By Getfeedback on Jun 14, 2023

At GFB we are constantly looking at ways to improve our technology to make it easy for every candidate to access our tools and thwart any attempts at cheating.
Our technical team wrote a brilliant update for us on what they have been up to, but before I could write this blog I had to look up what “rendering” meant:
"Rendering is a process used in web development that turns website code into the interactive pages users see when they visit a website.“
For us non-technical people – turning complicated code into words and pictures that can be easily viewed on any device e.g. screens, laptops, mobiles etc.

That's great, but how does it help you and your candidates taking any online assessments provided by GFB?
Our proprietary renderer ensures that:
- Our assessment links are fast, secure and accessible to all.
- It inhibits cheating e.g. deterring the use of automated tools such as ChatGPT https://www.gfbgroup.com/post/can-chatbots-really-pass-the-watson-glaser
- A cleaner, modern design helps candidates to focus on the assessment, supporting neurodiversity https://www.gfbgroup.com/post/assessing-and-supporting-neurodiverse-talent
- For blind or visually impaired, or candidates that may find using a mouse difficult, assessments are accessible using screen readers and fully navigable with keyboards.
- Assessment links are fully responsive and will display on any device e.g. desktop, tablet, or mobile, using a mouse, keyboard or touchscreens.

- Allows screen readers to not only navigate the assessment but also provide descriptions of the application controls e.g. navigation bar, buttons, timer etc.
- We can support instant translation for assessments that are available in multiple languages, including right to left languages and Chinese/Japanese/Korean.

- It is able to handle slow or intermittent internet connections, automatically submitting responses as candidates progress. If they lose internet connection it will automatically re-submit as soon as it is restored.
- Assessments can be fully customised using client branding, colours and/or fonts.
- We don't use cookies or local storage (cookies can be used to track users’ activity across multiple websites which can be a concern for the privacy of the user)
For the technical gurus amongst us
Our renderer exceeds the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA score. This is the full Accessibility score from Google Chrome tools:

And this is our performance score:

Not that we like to brag....
